Day 1: Flight to Munich via Amsterdam (we took a 5pm that landed at 8:30am the following day)
- We had 12 hour layover in Amsterdam. Luggage storage at the airport and getting to the city could not be easier! There are large lockers you can rent for the day and an easy public transportation center that takes you right to one of the Canal Cruise stops. My recommended must sees:
- Amsterdam Canal Cruise
- Rijksmuseum
- Visit one of the local cannabis cafes!
- Heineken Experience
- Amsterdam > Munich Flight
STAY: Airbnb Bismarckstrabe 26A EG, Freising
Day 2: Day trip to Neuschwanstein Castle
- We used a tour group that allowed us to explore the area on bikes as well.
STAY: Arthotel ANA DIVA Munich
Day 3: Oktoberfest
- Oktoberfest table reservations! These need to be reserved as FAR in advance as possible. Most are for 2 hour slots and there are ~9 major tents that are the hardest to get into, but the most fun. Most reservations include a certain number of beers + food. Please note: do NOT take on friends in a chugging contest on top of the tables – you will be escorted out by security 🙂
STAY: Arthotel ANA DIVA Munich
Day 4: Oktoberfest
- Oktoberfest table reservations!
STAY: Arthotel ANA DIVA Munich
Day 5: Munich to Berchtesgaden (via train)
- We took the train to Berchtesgaden and then the local bus 838 to Kehlsteinhaus – Eagle’s Nest. It leaves once per hour so definitely check the time tables before you go!
STAY: KS Hostel Berchtesgaden GmbH
Day 6: Konigssee Day Trip
- We took the Konigssee King’s Lake Ferry Boat Tour
- We then grabbed the train to Austria for lunch and a little exploring before taking the train to check into our airport hotel.
STAY: Arcadia Hotel Munich Airport
Day 7: Flight home (we took a 10am, which landed around 4:30pm)
